We need a room parent!

by Steve Krile

This Week

In math we worked with compliments of 10.  We continue to use the number line to count forwards and backwards by ones. We also worked on counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.  During problem of the day this week we worked on math words....in all, sum, both, total and altogether.

Calculators were introduced this week.  Ms. Jordan read us a GREAT book about tally marks called Tally O’Malley.  We learned what a unit box is used for in Everyday Math.

Kriletown is in need of a room parent!! If you would be able to organize treats and games for parties please let me know.

Our Krile Kid t-shirts came in this week. Thanks to donations EVERY Krile kid has a shirt this year. YEAH!!

Keep those snacks coming!!  Check out the website for ideas :)

We need dry erase markers!

Reading and Writing

This week we read books about fall. We discussed how the days are getting cooler and the leaves are starting to change colors.  We have begun to collect fun fall words on our word wall.

In writer’s workshop this week we continue to work on our spin off of Mercer Mayer’s popular book called "I Just Forgot".  Reading groups continued this week. Each group is reading just right books.  We read about a dog going to school, big and little animals, a very dirty pup and a frog that goes to the doctor. Please check out Kriletown.com for a list of just-right books to read.

Social Studies and Science

In science this week we went on a leaf walk and collected leaves around Logan. We brought the leaves into class and did several science and math activities.

Our SPECIAL KID this coming week is Amelia! We learned Amelia is a silver medalist in ice skating, she loves chess and she was born in Atlanta, GA! Her favorite book is The Monster at the End of this Book and her favorite food is cake. Amelia’s poster is on the board!
