This Week

In math we worked with time to the hour and half hour.  We worked with penny and nickel exchanges this week.

During problem of the day this week we had several distractors. The kids were not ‘freaked’ out at all!

I taught the kids Rat a Tat Cat this week. It is a GREAT card game for this age. You can find it at Target.

We used our number grid to count by 10’s this week.

Halloween party is Wednesday, Oct 31st at 1:30.  Kids may bring costumes to change into if they would like. NO WEAPONS OF ANY KIND PLEASE!!

Keep those snacks coming!!  Check out the website for ideas :)

We need clear contact paper!

Check out for pics of our FUN filled week!  We had a cement mixer AND a fire truck visit this week!!

Reading and Writing

This week we continued with my all time FAVORITE book series FANCY NANCY!! Some of the fancy vocabulary words we learned were thrilled, extraordinary, tardy, overjoyed, boutique and dazzling.

In writer’s workshop this week we continue to work on our own Nancy spin off books. Stupendous Sofia,  Charming Charlie, Amazing Amelia and Amazing Aisha are coming right along.

In reading workshop this week we read just right books about Cookie the cat, Little Bear, Monsters telling time and some funny gifts.

Social Studies and Science

In science this week we sampled Honey Crisp.  Golden and Red Delicious and Granny Smith apples. We created a graph with our favorites and wrote a class book.

Our SPECIAL KID this coming week is Gunnar!  We learned his favorite color is red. His favorite animal is his dog named Tigerus. His favorite sport is soccer. His favorite food is an apple and he is an only child. Come in and check out Gunnar’s poster. He will be up all week!
