We are on the 14 day in Kriletown and are reviewing place value, money and tally marks each day as we keep track of our time together.  The kids earned their FIRST BEHAVIOR party last Friday!!! We filled our marble jar and earned a popcorn party complete with a Kevin Henkes movie. I am soooo proud of your kiddos!!

My email is whitaker@aaps.k12.mi.us and is the BEST way to reach me!

Picture Day is Tuesday, October 2nd.

I have added photos and helpful computer hints to the website this week. The password is on the take-home version of the Krile Krohnicle. Go take a look at our fun stuff.

Thank you so much for the snacks! Please keep them coming...cheese sticks and fruit are VERY popular!

Reading and Writing

Transient

Our author this week was David Shannon. His first book "NO, DAVID" won him the Caldacott medal.  We enjoyed all of the "No, David" books along with "Alice the Fairy", "Duck on a Bike" and "How I Became a Pirate".

In writing this week the kids finished up books entitled "I am Special" and started his or her own spin off of "No David".  The children are working on using quotation marks and having the pictures tell more of the story.

Reading groups began this week and each group is reading just right books.  We read about what people do, birthday fun and a silly hen who thinks the sky is falling. Ask your Krile kid what he or she read at the reading table this week.

Social Studies and Science

In honor of constitution day we discussed the need for rules both at school and at home. We reviewed our class rules poster and discussed special rules for special areas of our room.

Keep an eye out for our Fabulous First Grader folder along with the Super Special Kid folder. Each of these folders will give your Krile Kid a chance to share a bit more about themselves with our class. Just another way for us to learn more about our friends.
