In math we continued to work with tally marks, our calendar and temperature. Each child created a thermometer this week and we compared and contrasted temps.
We used dice this week to play ROLL TO 50! The kids had a great time counting up and back on the number line :)
During problem of the day this week we worked with basic addition/subtraction facts and logical reasoning.

Reading and Writing
Our author this week was Mercer Mayer. He is both the author and illustrator of the hugely popular Little Critter series. Little Critter is a great series for this age because the main character is put in everyday situations. He also writes books about all the emotions and difficulties of being six, seven and eight.
In writing this week the kids finished up books titles "No David". The children are working on using quotation marks and having the pictures tell more of the story.
Reading groups began this week and each group is reading just right books. We read about a bear who turns blue, a kitten who gets lost and a little girl who just DOES NOT WANT TO!
Social Studies and Science
In honor of constitution day we had a VERY special visitor come in and read to us. Officer Gold (AKA Jason’s dad) came in and read "Officer Buckle and Gloria" and then shared a little bit about what he does as a police officer.
Our first SPECIAL KID was Sofia!! We learned Sofia loves the color purple, she is the oldest sister and she loves PBS kids! Her favorite book is The Day It Rained Hearts and her favorite food is dogs in a blanket. Sofia’s poster will hang on the Special Kid board this next week.
