READING AND WRITING

Transient

This week we read several books about school. Ask your child to tell you about First Day Jitters....who had the jitters and what does the word jitters mean?

We also read Mrs. Malarkey Does Not Live in Room 10 as well as Franklin Goes to School. All of these books go beautifully with our social studies unit Our School and Family.

We wrote our first Krile Creation this week entitled Our First Day of School. This class book will be coming home with each of the kids for you to share as a family and return the next day. Next week we will start our first author study. We will read and learn about Audrey Penn and her amazing character Chester.

This week in science we have started our unit on weather. We will be keeping track of the weather each day in a journal. Discussing the wind, cloud cover and temperature will be our top priority.

New Vocabulary words for the week

  • cloudy
  • partly cloudy
  • breezy
  • freezing
  • frigid

We all made personal thermometers we will use throughout the year.
