This Week

NO SCHOOL Monday, January 21st and Tuesday, January 29th.  Mrs. Jones was with us this week :)  Ms. Thomas is a GREAT addition to Kriletown.  We worked with clocks, rulers, and money this week.

We continue to discuss even and odd numbers. Please work on counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s from any number.  Mark your calendar National Wear Red day is February 1st. All of Kriletown will be in red. More to come on this in the coming weeks.

Please be mindful that flu season is in full swing and keep your child home if they are not feeling well.

Our morning snacks supply is LOW!

Laura Hammond will be contacting some of you for Valentine donations soon!  She is SUPER on the ball :)

Book orders due Monday, January 25st. Please make checks out to Scholastic or place an order online.

We need a laundry basket if anyone has one to spare.

Reading and Writing

This week we read books all about penguins and snow.  We are all hopping a few inches fall this weekend.  In writer’s workshop this week the kids started circle books based on If You Give A Mouse A Cookie by Laura Numeroff.

The children learned a circle book starts with an idea and the main character gets distracted over and over until finally the character is brought back to the original idea. So far we have "If You Give a Chihuahua a Ball Gown", "If You Take a Dragon to the Disco", "If You Give a Dog a Bone" and "If You Give A Pony a Pancake".

Social Studies

We read and discussed the life of Martin Luther King Jr. this week. Your children had some wonderful insights into what it means to be a caring, loving member of society. It is a privilege to spend my days with such wonderful little people.

Our SPECIAL KID this week was Ms. Thomas!  Ms. Thomas loves purple, is a hard worker, was an actress in high school and is a big sister!
